This is just a short thread of thought. The topic is way more complex and there is so much more to art than I’m going to get into here. This is just a tiny sliver of it.
There is just something nice about being surrounded with beautiful things. Just to be and to see beauty everywhere around you. Imagine being in a room, with a comfortable and nice looking armchair and the walls are filled with spectacular photographs. Everywhere you look there is something to rest your gaze on and just to enjoy, soak in the colors, the shadows, the tones and the shapes of what is presented. You don’t even think about the piece in front of you. There is no need for a more complex mode of appreciation, no deeper level of meaning or hidden message. Just the sheer beauty of it all.
I argue that simply enjoying, soaking in the raw beauty of an art piece is a big part of the purpose of any art. As I said at the beginning, there is so much more to an art piece, the deeper message, the hidden information, the technicality of it, the skill of the artist etc. Those are just as important, but I wanted to focus on this single aspect of it. The easy enjoyment of it all.
It just feels good. No extra effort is needed. Sometimes, I don’t even need to look at the piece, but the simple knowledge of being surrounded by beauty makes me feel the same as I would feel looking at the art.
This is also why I think it is important to build and live in an environment that is beautiful, that is inspiring. This is why this sort of artistic beauty exists in home decoration and interior design.

The point of art, of my art, is often times just to make something nice. Something that people can enjoy for the sake of it. Where there is no need for any further explanation, decoding any hidden messages. Art is not only to gain exposure, followers, to flex one’s skill in the craft. Art exists purely to create beauty.
Then it is our job as consumers of art, to make space for art to be enjoyed on the simplest, most basic levels. We can do this by displaying pieces in our homes, in the environment where we spend time. Then we can make room for it in our minds as well, by slowing down, clearing our head and just being, spending time amidst the beautiful creations.
That’s it. Simple joys, tiny strings of thoughts.
Until next time, take care.
